Last week's rehearsal

Thank you so much to those of you who came out to last week's rehearsal.

You all sounded so great! I am extremely excited!

A couple of notes as you are practicing your music this week.

The Star Spangled Banner:
  • Remember, unless you are Mr. West, Mr. Garner, or Ms. Alfred, you are singing the melody (main part) We are starting on an "E" if you are practicing at home.
  • Mr. Garner will be conducting, so it is very important that you are watching him for rhythm and for cut offs.
  • If you don't know the words by heart, please have them learned by Thursday.
The School Song:
  • This is another one where we need to learn the words ASAP.
  • Remember to really focus on making those words clear so the audience can understand what you are saying.
  • The chorus ("You've taught us about empowerment") Should have a very stacatto (or punchy) feel. Emphasize each syllable... don't get lazy. You should be pretty tired by the time you are done singing this one :)
As you practice- think about your facial expressions :) Use those eyebrows!!!

If there was anyone who was not at rehearsal but IS planning on participating... tell them that this Thursday is their last chance. No show, No go. (and they should come prepared with the music already learned.)

Thanks for all your hard work in making this an amazing, and memorable experience...

I love being a Legend!

The National Anthem (Star Spangled Banner) Music Link

Here is a link for a youtube video that has the melody and lyrics for the star spangled banner:
The National Anthem

If you are a sheet music reader- please disregard the harmonies on the sheet music I posted.

For now, EVERYONE should just learn the melody (the main part) with the lyrics.

On Thursday, Mr. Garner and I will take small groups of students/teachers and teach some harmonies... which we may end up using.

Most of you probably know this already... and if you do, GREAT! You are ahead of the game :) If not, please come Thursday knowing the words and how the music goes.

School Song link will be posted shortly.

Update

Happy Sunday!

I hope you have all had an amazing weekend.I apologize for still not having uploaded the music files... I will get those up as soon as possible. In the meantime, I just wanted to remind everyone that we will have a rehearsal on Thursday after school from 4:30-5:30. Please come directly to the theatre room after 9th period. The quicker we get started, the more we can get done, and the quicker we can get out :)

Please be trying to learn lyrics and music in the meantime :)

If there is anyone else you know who wanted to join the choir, and did not make the meeting, please give them this blog link and tell them they have to be at the rehearsal Thursday.

Can't wait to sing with you guys!

Welcome to the Graduation Choir!

Hello Legends!

Business First:

This blog will serve as a place to get updates, copies of the music, and any communication regarding rehearsals, expectations, etc. As a result, it is very important that you check this blog DAILY for updates.

Now the FUN stuff:

This is YPNF's very first graduation! By being a part of this choir, you are being a part of HISTORY! It is also the debut of our school song... so big stuff all around. I am soooo excited you have decided to join us for this momentous occasion.

Logistics:

As we ALL know, the end of the year is coming very quickly, and everybody is very busy- so the task of LEARNING this music is going to fall largely to You.

I will be providing links with the music so you can practice, and memorize lyrics on your own... that way we can limit our rehearsal time as much as possible. (We all got places to be and things to do :)) BUT it is very important that we sound AWESOME at graduation.

The more work you do on your own, the less time we have to spend repeating in rehearsal... easy as that.

Also, since we are having so few rehearsals (times to be posted asap) it is VERY important that you are at each rehearsal, and that you let me know ahead of time if you have a conflict.

** You will be responsible for transportation to and from Graduation. Call times (the time you are expected to be there) will be posted as I get more information. Let me know if this is a problem ASAP.

Feel free to comment below with any questions, or reach out to me directly:
